King David and Bathsheba
The story of King David and Bathsheba, found in 2 Samuel 11-12, is a story of lust, adultery, murder, and God's judgment, followed by repentance and redemption. David, a powerful king, sees Bathsheba, a woman married to his loyal soldier Uriah, and is captivated by her beauty. He brings her to his palace and they commit adultery.  David acknowledges his sin and repents, but the consequences of his actions are severe. Their first child, conceived in sin, dies. David later marries Bathsheba, and they have another son, Solomon, who will eventually become king.
